West Hollywood Aquatics (WH2O)’s very own open water swimming training program is back for summer 2024! Whether you’re a triathlete looking to strengthen your first leg or a pool swimmer curious about the saltwater scene, come check out WH2Ocean, running each Thursday morning at Tower 27 in Santa Monica from June 6-September 26, 6:25am. With coaches from elite open water, ultramarathon swimming and triathlon backgrounds, our ocean swimming workouts include entry/exit strategies, conditioning, race day prep, open water technique and more, all within the welcoming, fun-focused, and supportive environment of WH2O. We are in great hands with our 2024 coaches, Carly Miller and Becca Mann. No prior open water experience is necessary - if you can complete a WH2O pool practice, you are qualified to participate in WH2Ocean.

WH2Ocean 2024

Weekly workouts on Thursdays 6:15am - 8:00am, beginning 6/6/24 and continuing through 9/26/24, at Tower #27 in Santa Monica.   Details below.

Santa Monica Beach, Lifeguard Tower #27 (T27)
 
Parking at Lot 5 South, pay at self-service machines ($1/hr) and place ticket on your dashboard 
 
When facing the water, T27 is to the left (South) of the bathrooms 
 
Public bathrooms and showers are available
 
Every Thursday at 6:15am-8am, from June 6 to September 26, 2024
 
6:15am = suggested arrival time at the parking lot to self-pay at the kiosk, walk to T27, and gear up
6:25am = instructions given on the beach **PLEASE BE ON TIME** toes in the water at 6:30am!
6:30am-8am = workout 
 
You are welcome to attend any/all workouts during the 4-month season.
 
Everyone must be an active USMS member for insurance purposes. If you are a water polo player only registered with USAWP, you must also register with USMS.
 
What to Bring:
 
Swimsuit, wetsuit (optional), towel, sunscreen, swim cap*, goggles, anti-chafe (e.g., Body Glide, Vaseline, Aquaphor, Skin Slick, TriSlide) 
 
*For visibility and safety, everyone must wear a swim cap in the ocean. We have ordered team caps, which will be handed out at the beach. If you prefer to wear your own cap rather than the team cap, please choose bright colors.
 

 

2024 WH2Ocean Registration Fees and Payment Options

We ask that everyone participating in WH2Ocean 2024 are members of West Hollywood Aquatics in 2024. If you are not already a member of West Hollywood Aquatics in 2024, please visit the 'Join' page on our website to join.
