From May 20 to 23, 2010,
WH2O swimmers converged upon the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center
(coming from as far a field as Washington, D.C.; New Mexico; Santa
Barbara; and the San Fernando Valley) to put in a fine showing at
the 40th Annual U.S. Master Swimming Nationals in
Atlanta.
Nineteen swimmers competed
in heats, and heatedly supported their teammates and friends (with
the help of Liz’s mom) as they brought their best game to
relays and individual events, fueled by Hammer Nutrition and
outfitted by Nike swim, both newly minted team sponsors. With
warming up, racing, warming down, eating, cheering, napping, and
the rigorous inspection of eye candy, the weekend sped by in a
blur. Fortunately, various iPhones and personal digital devices
recorded the events with the usual poetic grace from several of our
photographers (slideshow below compliments of Susan
Shore).
Congratulations to all our
swimmers for their brilliant efforts. Special thanks go out to
Nationals Coach Russell (with an assist from Coach Olver, on the
injury list, but still present to support) for leading the team in
a successful competition.
